Today, the Philadelphia Eagles announced two inductees for the team’s 2015 Hall of Fame class. Maxie Baughan and Brian Wesbrook will be inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame this coming season.
Baughan is a nine-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro linebacker who spent twelve seasons in the NFL, including five with the Eagles. During his time with his Birds, he made a case for being one of the all-time greats in team history. His first year in the league saw him becoming an automatic starter and was capped off with helping the Eagles snag the 1960 NFL Championship.
Baughan was also a part of one of the all-time great Eagles defensive performance, catching one of nine interceptions in a 47-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Baughan would later play for the Los Angeles Rams before ending his career with the Washington Redskins. He then went on to coach for several NFL teams before becoming the head coach at Cornell.
The second of the two newest inductees will be remembered as one of the all-time great running backs in franchise history.
Westbrook was drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 2002 NFL draft and spent eight seasons in Philadelphia. A two-time Pro-Bowler, Westbrook rushed for over 6,300 yards, received for almost 4,000 yards, and scored 71 touchdowns. He also had two 1,000+ yard rushing seasons (2006,2007) while in Philadelphia.
Among many achievements, both on and off the field, Westbrook will be most remembered for his fourth-quarter punt return against the Giants in 2003 that helped the Eagles secure a 14-10 victory. He was also a key factor in the Eagles’ 13-3 season in 2004 when they took home the NFC Championship.
Westbrook can now be seen on CSN Philly as an analyst for Eagles Post-Game Live.
The Eagles will officially induct Baughan and Westbrook into their Hall of Fame on Oct 19 when they play the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
