Eagles Top 15 Impact Players For Next Season, 5. Trent Cole

Trent Cole is number 5 on the countdown of impact players for next season. After a disappointing season last year, he is completely expected to bounce back. Cole has been nothing but an impact player for the Eagles his entire career, and one season is not going to make fans forget of all the great things he has done for the team.

Last season, Trent Cole had only 3 sacks. To go along with those 3 sacks was only 40 tackles. These are disappointing stats for a player of his stature, and was not expected at all. These numbers are truly shocking for a guy that has 71 career sacks, and 461 tackles. Hopefully last season was a fluke for Cole, and he will get his career back on track and get back to his old self.

With the Eagles changing over to a 4-3 next season, Trent Cole is switching positions. He is moving to linebacker, which is something he has not done yet in his NFL career. It will be tougher for Cole to get sacks with the move, but he should help the team in stopping the run. He will be able to record more tackles, and use his size to overpower runners.

Trent Cole has expressed confidence in himself and has vowed to be better this upcoming season. He recently said, “They’ll have to drag me out of this facility, but I’m not going to fail,I’m going to give them no reason to have to get rid of me or anything like that. I’m going to do everything I have to do to make things work.”

With the switch to linebacker, and the confidence Cole has expressed in himself, all signs point to a major bounce back season. The 2012-2013 season, was not the Trent Cole we are used to seeing, and most likely we won’t see that version of him again. With all the talent in the world, I’m predicting Trent Cole to have a monster year for the Birds, and be a potent force for the defense.
