If Nick Foles is named the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles then he will be the number 7 impact player on the team. He has the size and ability to succeed in the league, but has to be given the chance. There are many obstacles in his way of becoming the starter, and the most obvious is the presence of Michael Vick. Last season, when given an opportunity Foles showed potential of being a decent NFL qb.

With Michael Vick in his way, it will be hard for Foles to ever establish himself. However, I’m going to focus on the positives of Nick Foles and explain why they make him an impact player. For starters his size is a major advantage. His size makes it easy for him to take hits, and also helps with his vision. Being such a big quarterback is rare in the NFL, and is an attribute that sets him apart.

Foles’ big arm is definitely an ability that will only continue to grow. He can air the ball out, and throw the team deep ball. While he lacks in accuracy, he certainly has the strength to get the ball out in a hurry. A positive for Foles is that his strength will only continue to build, and become stronger. If he can tweak some minor details, Foles has the potential to have the arm of an elite quarterback.

Last season, when Michael Vick when down with injury Nick Foles filled in and impressed. He posted 1699 passing yards, and 6 touchdowns. Foles put up serious numbers in his brief time, and proved that if given an opportunity that he could defiantly succeed. Nick Foles has huge upside for a guy that was taken so late in the draft, and for someone that was not expected to come in and make a difference.

Chip Kelly has done nothing but praise Nick Foles since being named head coach. As of now, with the first pre-season game in the books it appears that Foles has taken the backseat to Mike Vick. However, if given the chance, he could be a major impact player on an Eagles team that is only continuing to grow. It will be interesting to see how Foles will be utilized next season, but one thing is for sure, and that is that Nick Foles will be an impact player in the NFL when given the starting position.
