Eagles Top 15 Impact Players For Next Season, 8. Fletcher Cox

Ryan Miller

Fletcher Cox is number 8 on the countdown for many reasons. For starters, he had a very impressive rookie season last year. After being selected 12th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles, he went out and proved why he was drafted so high. Cox is expected to be one of the Eagles best defensive lineman next season, and very well could wind up with the most sacks on the team. Here’s a few reasons why.

Cox has exactly what you are looking for when it comes to a defensive tackle. He is 6’4′ and 300 pounds. The man is big, but also very athletic. His stats back up exactly what I am talking about. In his rookie season he totaled 39 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Cox certainty had a good first season, and he will defiantly look to build on it in the future.

Next Season, Cox could wind up moving over to d-end. He has been versatile in his football carer, as he moved around quite a bit in college. No matter what position Fletcher Cox is playing, he is going to be making a difference. A great sign for the Eagles is the way Cox carries himself. He told reporters, “I never say I’m that guy – I always do that to humble myself, I never think I’ve arrived. That’s when you stop focusing on the main things.”

Cox is humble, and has the right attitude. It is encouraging to know that he is not letting all of the fame get to his head. He is going to be a center piece for the defense going forward, and will be a name that will be well recognized throughout the league. This upcoming season look for Fletcher Cox to lead the Eagles in sacks, and potentially be a pro bowler.
