The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New Orleans Saints 39-17 on Sunday afternoon to improve to 2-3 on the season. On Monday, the team tried out tight ends Richard Gordon, Cameron Clear, center Brian Folkerts, and defensive end Gerald Rivers, according to the National Football Post’s Aaron Wilson.
Gordon, the 6-foot-3 and 262 lb. tight end, was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 2011 NFL Draft. Over his career, he spent time with the Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans. In 2014, Gordon was back with the Chiefs but only played in two games before being released from injured reserve with a settlement.
Folkerts was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints after the 2012 NFL Draft but eventually found his way to the Carolina Panthers in 2013. With Carolina, Folkerts played in 26 games over two seasons spending time as the backup center/offensive guard before being waived on Sept. 5, 2015.
Finally, Rivers, who was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss by the St. Louis Rams in the 2013 NFL Draft, has bounced around the league. He has spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos and New York Giants. According to NFL Trade Rumors, he had a workout with the Saints a few weeks ago but did not receive a contract.
