Eagles weekly recap: Bradford return, Wentz deal, and more

.

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Eagles weekly recap. Now that the draft and free-agency frenzy has settled down, the Eagles got to work, and returned to NovaCare complex to begin workouts. Let’s get into it:

  • After a two weeks of back-and-forth, quarterback Sam Bradford ended his holdout, and returned to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. Bradford also rescinded his request to be traded, stating that he is committed to being the Eagles quarterback for the 2016 season.
  • Speaking of Bradford’s return, his agent, Tom Condon, opened up to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith about the turmoil. Among his comments, Condon stated that he targeted the Denver Broncos as a potential landing-spot for Bradford, however it was the Eagles’ high price that made the Broncos shy away from a potential trade. Once it was clear that the trade would not be feasible, the only solution was for Bradford to end his holdout.
  • It’s official; Carson Wentz is an Eagle. On Thursday, the rookie quarterback and the Eagles agreed to a four-year, $26.7 million fully guaranteed deal. The deal also includes a $17.6 million signing bonus. Wentz reported to NovaCare on Friday to begin the Eagles three-day rookie camp.
  • In addition to roster moves, the Eagles made moves in the front office, hiring new assistant director of personnel Andy Weidl, and new VP of player personnel Joe Douglas. This will not be their first meeting as the two former scouts worked together for the Baltimore Ravens, and notably were key in drafting quarterback Joe Flacco.
