Welcome to this week’s edition of the Eagles weekly recap, we have just come out of perhaps the most exciting week of the offseason, and there is plenty to cover from the fallout of the 2016 NFL Draft.
- Earlier this week, reports came out that quarterback Sam Bradford is demanding to be traded from the Philadelphia Eagles, and will not attend any offseason programs. This comes after the Eagles traded with the Cleveland Browns for the number-two overall pick, suggesting Bradford will not be around after this season. Despite his efforts to be dealt, the Eagles plan on having him as the starter for 2016.
- Speaking of the unlikely Bradford trade, the Denver Broncos seemed to be interested in the trade. However, they backed out of talks, citing that the asking-price was too high, and that it did not seem as though the Eagles really wanted to deal Bradford.
And now for the highlight of the week…
- With the second pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Carson Wentz, quarterback out of North Dakota State! It seemed inevitable that the six-foot-five quarterback would land in Philly, and now the speculation can end, and grooming can begin.
- The Eagles rounded out the 2016 NFL Draft by selecting:
- Isaac Seumalo, OL (79th overall)
- Wendell Smallwood, RB (153rd overall)
- Halapoulivaati Vaitai, OL (164th overall)
- Blake Countess, CB (196th overall)
- Jalen Mills, S (233rd overall)
- Alex McCalister, DE (240th overall)
- Joe Walker, LB (251st overall)
