Eagles weekly recap: OTAs continue, coaching conflicts, and more

Philadelphia Eagles Introduce Doug Pederson

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Eagles weekly recap. As OTAs continue, some Eagles try to find their groove while the Eagles coaching staff looks to sort out some dissension. Let’s get into it.

  • This week, the Philadelphia Eagles continued OTAs at the NovaCare Complex. Among one of the most notable highlights was the progress of rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. According to multiple reports, Wentz has shown promising play through the Eagles first few practices. Look for more Wentz vs. Bradford comparisons to emerge as the Eagles move through their summer activities.
  • One of the most notable stories from this week involves quarterback Sam Bradford, unsurprisingly. However, Bradford is not the center of the story, however it is Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich with the spotlight. Reich spoke to the media this week, and stated that there is not set depth chart concerning the Eagles current quarterback situation. This comes after head coach Doug Pederson has constantly stated that Bradford will be the starter for 2016. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has mirrored Reich’s statements, claiming that everyone on defense is currently in competition. Hopefully there will be more cohesion in the coaching staff moving forward.
  • This week, the Philadelphia Eagles released their official training camp schedule. Rookies, quarterbacks, and other selected players will report on July 35, while the remainder of the team will report on July 27. There will be two open practices held on July 31, and Aug. 14 for fans to attend free of charge.
  • Continuing with improving the roster, the Eagles made two moves this week, signing defensive tackle Derrick Lott, and releasing punter Ryan Quigley. Lott spent 2015 on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad, coming undrafted from Tennessee-Chattanooga.
