Welcome to this week’s edition of the Eagles weekly recap. The Eagles continued their OTAs, and are preparing for their first mandatory practice of the season next week. Let’s get into it:
- The Eagles continued OTAs this week, and the controversial quarterback dilemma has shown some positive signs according to multiple reports. Many say that all three quarterbacks have made great strides in learning the new offense. Head coach Doug Pederson specifically spoke on Sam Bradford while talking to the media Friday, stating that Bradford has established himself as the top guy so far.
- Next week, the Eagles will begin mandatory minicamp. Two names that will be highly watched are defensive end Fletcher Cox, and running back Darren Sproles, neither of whom have attended OTAs. While Sproles’s absence seems to be nothing to worry about, Cox has remained at home while contract talks continue. Pederson stated Friday that he expects both players to attend mandatory camp.
- This week, the official betting lines were released for the Eagles 2016 schedule. Of note, the Eagles are projected to be underdogs in 13 of their 16 games.
- It’s a farewell for former Eagles safety Walt Thurmond. This week, Thurmond announced his retirement from the NFL after six seasons. The 28-year-old spent the 2015 season with the Eagles, and became one of the positive parts of the defense. Thurmond also spent time in Seattle, where he won a Super Bowl, and in New York with the Giants.
