Welcome to this week’s edition of the Eagles Weekly recap. The Eagles are looking to pick up the pieces after last week’s loss, and have gone through a relatively quiet week in preparation for today’s game. Let’s get into it:
- After suffering two straight losses, the Philadelphia Eagles are back home this afternoon to host the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. The story of the afternoon will be the return of former Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford who was thought to be the starter up until his trade just before the season. Wentz and the offense will also look to adjust to the costly absence of right tackle Lane Johnson.
- Speaking of Johnson’s absence, rookie tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai largely struggled last week against the Washington Redskins. The Eagles will start Vaitai again this week, and will employ more two and three-tight end sets to help the rookie improve, mainly with Brent Celek being a key blocker.
- One Eagle who received praise this week was receiver Dorial Green-Beckham. When asked about his playing time, offensive coordinator Frank Reich stated Green-Beckham will gradually see an increased role as he continues to progress with learning the offense. Green-Beckham played in 81-percent of the Eagles snaps last week, and will continue to get a high volume of snaps on the field.
- The Eagles saw a good amount of injuries this week. Cornerback Ron Brooks (calf), center Jason Kelce (foot), defensive tackle Bennie Logan (groin), and defensive end Marcus Smith (groin) all missed time in practice this week. Of the group, Logan’s injury is the standout as it will likely hold him out of today’s game.
- Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox racked up his second $9,115 in consecutive weeks, this time for his roughing the passer call against quarterback Kirk Cousins in the Eagles loss against the Washington Redskins last Sunday.
That’s it for this week. Stay tuned with Total Sports Live for the latest involving the Philadelphia Eagles.
