Earl Thomas says he’s mulling retirement after leaving game with injury

Carolina Panthers v Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks free safety Earl Thomas sent a tweet that shocked the Internet after exiting Sunday night’s game against the Panthers with a leg injury.

Thomas showed off his great closing speed attempting to intercept a Cam Newton pass in the second quarter of the game, and appeared to injure himself upon hitting the turf. He came flying across the field and dived to try to pick off the pass, and managed to get his hands on the football, but could not haul it in as he hit the ground, and landed awkwardly.

He was helped to the sideline, and then carted off the field to the locker room. The team had this to say about his status after it happened.

A short while later, the 27-year-old took to Twitter and posted this message, in which he mentions possibly retiring.

He then followed that up with this tweet.

Soon after, it was announced that Thomas suffered a broken bone in his leg.

We wish Thomas a speedy recovery, whether or not he chooses to hang up his cleats for good.
