(Look at the Cute Falcon Couple)
The hard-hitting journalism of our "Early Basketball Previews" continues on today and up after North Dakota is a visit from a MACtion school in Bowling Green. Wisconsin faces them on Nov. 21 at the Kohl Center.
School: Bowling Green
Location: Bowling Green, Ohio
Undergrad Enrollment: 17,234
2012-13 Record: 13-19 (7-9 MAC)
Top Returning Players: The Falcons return just two starters from a year ago in 6-10 forward Cameron Black and guard Chauncey Orr, the problem is the two combined for just over 10 points a game last season. However, this is a veteran squad with seven players that are juniors and seniors on the roster. Black could be a handful, as he had 33 blocks a season ago and shot a very repeatable 48.1% from the field.
Who'd Win in a Mascot Fight: This mascot battle is purely situational for me. If the Falcon swoops down and the Badger is near its home, there is no chance the Falcon wins. However, if this is out in the open, good luck Badger. Those talons sure are frightening, not to mention speeds in excess of 250mph. Sorry, Bucky this is a no-win situation for you unless you are about two feet from your home. That drops Bucky to 3-2 on the season.
One Interesting Major: Forensic Chemistry
One Fact to Help You at Your Local Trivia Night: Our 1-94 Rivals, Marquette, were the first and last team to beat the Falcons in the NCAA tournament—knocking them off in their first appearance in 1959 and then again in their final appearance in 1968 as well.
Prediction: Wisconsin better be able to win this game, considering the only double-digit scorers from the Falcons team a season ago are gone. It's as simple as watching the battle between Frank Kaminsky and Cameron Black up front. If Black is winning the battle it could be a long day for Wisconsin. However, I expect the Badgers to be vastly more athletic and we could see the Badgers run a team right out of the gym for a change.
