Early preview – Ohio State vs. Miami

Calm down, Michigan fans.  Not that Miami that nearly beat you recently.  The good Miami, from Florida.

Once again, Jeff’s bringing the goods from Fox Sports Ohio.  Every Thursday, he’s previewing the season, one game at a time.  When the previews end, the season begins.  Dude’s got timing, if nothing else.

The Canes return 14 starters from last season, 6 on offense and 8 on defense.  Quarterback Jacory Harris is back, having thrown for 3,352 yards in 2009.  Harris is widely known as a mobile QB, but he actually had rushing yards last year of negative-219.  If he learns to get rid of the ball and not take the sack so much, he’s the most dangerous player Miami has had in a long time.

Harris’ other downfall is interceptions.  He threw 24 touchdowns last season, but his passes also ended up in the defense’s hands a whopping 17 times.  Harris’ talent is hampered by his interceptions and his inability to avoid the sack.  As a sophomore, this could be written off as part of the growing experience.  Now that he is a junior quarterback, his progress demands that he loses the negative traits in his game.

Jeff has the game a lot closer than most of us think it will end up (he says 30-24, eerily close to the 31-24 score the last time these two teams met), but he’s looking for Stoneburner to make a big difference in the game.

Go see for yourself, he has a good early breakdown of the Canes.  Usually the Canes don’t break down until week 7.  Bah-dum-bum.
