Early trends from Brewers’ camp

With 5 Cactus League games now in the books, here are some early trends from Maryvale for the 2-1-1 Brew Crew:

* Chris Duffy is getting a good look–he leads the team with 14 AB’s and, while only hitting .286 so far, is the only Brewer to have tripled so far.  Trot Nixon, on the other hand, has gone 0-for-10, while Tony Gwynn, Jr., has gone 0-for-2 in limited playing time due to an injury.

* J.J. Hardy has gone 5-for-11, .455, with 3 doubles and 3 RBI’s, while Corey Hart has gone 4-for-7, .571, and Jason Kendall has gone 3-for-7, .429, with a pair of doubles.

* Five pitchers have pitched 3 innings, including Jorge Julio, who allowed 2 ER’s in those 3.0 IP; Dave Bush has also pitched 3 innings over 2 games, and has yet to allow a run.

* Seth McClung has allowed 4 ER’s in just 1 2/3rds innings, with no strikeouts.

It is still way too early to draw any conclusions, but these are the players that fans should keep an eye on over the next month.
