The San Jose Earthquakes unveiled their new logo on Thursday night in great fashion. Many Season Ticket Holders and fans came out to San Pedro Square Market in San Jose. When the clock struck 6:30 PM President Dave Kaval told the fans to look up at the Sunwize building as a short montage played of the Quakes history and finally ended by showing the new crest and how it was made.

Shortly before the announcement Troy Dayak delivered a speech about his tenure with the team and shared some of his experiences form playing with the squad. He referenced events such as the 2001 and 2003 MLS Cups and the journey it took to winning the two titles.

The new logo was a beauty and had a lot of detail to put into it. To find out more about what each piece of the new logo means feel free to check it out here. But this logo also came with three pillars that the club is to be built on moving forward: Unity, Devotion, and Heritage. These three words are what the Goonies from San Jose will always be bestowed upon.

After the speech, Steven Lenhart and Sam Cronin were sporting the Home Kit. This consisted of the Earthquake blue as the primary colors with the impact pattern as a silhouette in the jersey’s background. To add a little spice to the jersey it included black sleeves inseat of a traditional one-color jersey.

Victor Bernardez and Alan Gordan were modeling the Away Kit. The uniform was paying homage to the first Earthquakes squad from 1974 who played in a red jersey instead of what is now the blue that everyone associates the Quakes with. After, all four of the players took a picture with the team president which concluded the night.

The night wasn’t fully over after The Old Firm Casuals put on a mini concert while the new merchandise was on sale to the public.

The night was definitely one to remember, as fans were able to connect with the players through a Q & A session at the beginning of the event and autographs followed. This is something that the Earthquakes fans needed, a new beginning for the new stadium, and a chance to start fresh. Now the countdown begins as they prepare for their first match on March 9 when they take on the Real Salt Lake.
