Terry Francona announced that Bartolo Colon is staying put in Pawtucket for two more starts before a possible call-up. The Red Sox want Colon to get above 100 pitches in an outing before they start him in the majors. Judging by the bullpen’s performance the last 2 games that might be a very good idea. It would be nice if the starters could go through 7 and bring the game to Okajima and Paps. Francona spoke with reporters about his plan for Colon: “I think the plan is to certainly get him up here and play for us. We’re going to keep him on a five-day plan and try to get him to 100.” This means Buchholz will have at least one more start with Boston, most likely in a high pressure game against the Yankees.
