Jacoby Ellsbury flew to L.A. yesterday to have his ribs examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic.
“I hope there isn’t something new,” Francona said. “If nothing else, get an opinion that’s completely removed from everybody that’s been around him. We don’t know. That’s why we’re sending him.”
Former Red Sox pitcher Justin Masterson will be on the hill for the Indians tonight to face his old team. The Sox sent Masterson to Cleveland as part of the Victor Martinez deal. Masterson is struggling this season and has not won a game since his first start of the season. His has an ERA of 5.4 and a record of 1-5.
The New York Yankees are going to make a run at pitcher Cliff Lee before the deadline according to the NY Daily News. Lee would give the defending champs rotation a solid boost and make them the favorite to win the East.
