Just when it seems like Derek Jeter has received just about every retirement present and tribute imaginable…comes this.

Now, I get it. Years ago, I was at a U2 show at Soldier Field in Chicago and the Hancock Building was lit up with “U2” overlooking the sold out crowd, but why light up the Empire State Building Sunday night, three nights after the retiring New York Yankees captain played his last game at Yankee Stadium?
Seriously, Jeter suited up for 81 games in The Big Apple and you light up your building after he just played three in Boston?!?
Whatever.
Anyway, there it was. Sunday night, the Empire State Building was lit up in Yankees blue and white along with Jeter’s number 2 scrolling beneath the antenna. Hooray.
