I often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics after playing the Celtics. Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Orlando.
The Magic have been accused of being the kid who gets sand kicked in its face before.
And they did nothing to stop the reputation in two losses to the Celtics this week.
A guy who just arrived last season — shooting guard Jason Richardson — said after the Magic blew a 27-point lead, “The guys know that we didn’t come out in the second half like we were supposed to. To go and give up a lead like that?
“We have to figure out a way to maintain stuff like that, lik ehow to play with leads like that or when teams put pressure on us.
“It’s folding like that. We don’t want to get that reputation..that we’re soft.”
Said Glen Davis, “You could see things unraveling, turnovers….and Boston smelled blood. They smelled pressure, and we didn’t do a good job of countering.”
I've said it a billion times. I don't understand how the league's most imposing physical specimen can be the lead wussy on a soft team. Dwight Howard needs a little Andrew Bynum in him. Or better yet, he can learn how to scowl and rough up players from KG when he's in Boston next year.
