We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics. Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from Cleveland.
J.R. Smith made it known that he wasn’t giving an apology to Jae Crowder before Tuesday night’s game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics, and he confirmed it afterward.
“Yeah, he might want to wait on that. He can hold his breath for it, though,” Smith said after the Cavaliers defeated the Celtics 89-77 at TD Garden. “I’ll give it to him sooner or later.”
Crowder said Monday that he hopes Smith apologizes for backhanding with a punch in Game 4 of the opening-round series in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The blow caused Crowder to sprain his MCL, and Smith was ejected from the game and served with a two-suspension.
In true Smith fashion, he didn’t pull any punches — no pun intended — when asked why he’s not going to patch things up with Crowder.
“Because it wasn’t intentional like they’re trying to make it seem,” he said. “When you play chippy, chippy things are going to happen. It’s fine. It is what it is. It’s pretty ballsy though to ask for an apology from another man.”
You know what’s ballsy, JR? Unloading a wild backhanded punch during a game and claiming it wasn’t intentional.
Smith is a clown, always has been and always will be.
