We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics. Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from Miami.
Last week, KG made headlines for his comment about “not having Ray Allen’s number anymore.” Naturally, the media sought Ray’s reaction to KG’s comment.
“That’s a shame,” Allen said. “I’m a good person to talk to on the phone. … I’ve been in weird trade situations the last few years. You always felt you had one foot in and one foot out, so I can’t worry about it.”
“I don’t know how many miles apart we are, sometimes the translation gets messed up,” Allen said. “We’re friends regardless of what happens. He’s got to do what he’s got to do up in Boston.”
Allen’s new teammates, of course, were offering support.
“(Garnett) doesn’t need to be talking to our team anyway, so it’s all good,” Dwyane Wade said. “(Allen) doesn’t look too bad in a Heat uniform. At first it was weird but now I’m getting used to it.”
This verbal pissing match is going to last all season… and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.
Ray also wants us to know he was in a lot of pain during training camp in 2007:
“When we assembled together [in Boston] and went through training camp, I was in pain all the time,” Allen said. “But I never said anything about it. They didn’t really know what I dealt with surgerywise. Here, they know a little bit more of it.”
Not surprised. There isn’t a team in the league that embellishes injury more than the Heat.
