Enemy Chatter: The Celts will not get back up from this

Chatter

We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics after playing the Celtics. Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Miami.

Something hit the deck — hard — here Wednesday night. It was the Celtics, or rather Boston’s realistic chance to win in this NBA Eastern Conference finals against the favored Heat.

The Celtics won’t recover from this, from losing this way, on a night when they dominated for so long and quieted Miami’s packed home arena for so long, and then could only watch as the Heat relentlessly took away what was theirs.

Yes, you want to credit the Celtics’ no-quit courage and fight and all that stuff.

The thing is, this will crush Boston.

The Celtics will not get back up from this.

Some losses devastate. And this one will.

“I guarantee you they’re distracted right now, our locker room,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said afterward.

Miami Herald

Last night's loss was absolutely devastating. There's no way around it.

If you have the stomach to read the entire blog, you'll notice the omission of one tiny aspect of the game… the officiating.

I'd let that slide because the winners rarely ever notice or mention a disparity in officiating that benefitted them. But the Doc Rivers quote, "they're distracted right now…" is in direct reference to the officiating. The Celtics aren't distracted because they lost, they're distracted because they felt they were screwed.
