Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron is the latest to rock some amazing custom cleats before an NFL game this season.
Ebron’s cleats, though, mean much more than most.
According to Ebron himself, the slick-looking cleats honor his grandfather and father:

The Lions also hosted a video feature on what the cleats mean to Ebron:

Kudos to Ebron for these. Not only are the cleats themselves amazing looking, the meaning behind them goes above and beyond most custom cleats NFL players trot out on a weekly basis.
Ebron isn’t worried about an NFL fine, either, as ESPN.com’s Michael Rothstein explained:
This is just a continuation of what Ebron plans to do. He has custom cleats made for every week of the season, and said they are all done within the parameters of the NFL so he doesn’t get fined. He said if he gets fined this week for his cleats, though, so be it. This means too much to him.
The NFL will receive plenty of backlash if Ebron does end up getting fined, but that shouldn’t be the focus here.
It certainly isn’t for Ebron.
