If one Swedish hockey blog is to be believed, Senators defenceman Erik Karlsson is on the verge of signing with Jokerit of the Finnish Elite League.
”Today, I’ve gotten extremely convincing intelligence saying that the NHL star, Erik Karlsson, is signing with Jokerit. Looks like Frölunda will miss out on their dream signing.
The Finnish club has, according to sources, offered Erik around 100k SEK a month plus bonuses, along with paying for the very expensive insurance.”
Grönvitasumo is a Rögle blog that focuses on rumours around the SEL and SEL-2. It’s been quite trustworthy in the past and has a decent track-record of breaking news before the mainstream media. However, with the confusion around the SEL with the back-and-forth regarding whether or not to allow NHL players into the league, I wouldn’t necessarily declare this a done deal, as Frölunda is and has been Erik’s first choice all along. If a deal is signed, he’d probably have an out-clause for when the SEL gets its act together.
If nothing comes of this at least the site was afforded the opportunity to feature these glorious/absurd vintage sweaters.
