Wednesday night a Cuban invasion of sorts hit the very un-exotic locale of Monroe, Louisiana as DeCubas Promotions featured three of their touted former Cuban amateur team prospects.
In the night’s main event, Erislandy Lara simply eviscerated an out-gunned, and out-classed, Willie Lee. The fight wasn’t even competitive as Lara came out and floored Lee less than a minute into the round. Lara pounced with murderous intentions and referee Lawrence Cole mercifully waived a halt to the fight.
Based on Lara’s amateur pedigree a step up in competition would be welcomed. Fights like Wednesday night serve little purpose other than padding the record of a fighter who does not need codling.
