ESPN Acknowledges Hockey’s Existence

So there’s been all those pesky rumors about the NHL’s TV agreement. Versus has it locked up right now, but of course, many folks have an insatiable zombie-like need to speculate about a potential return to ESPN or a movce from Versus in general. We here at BMR will not give into this speculation. However, we will provide evidence that ESPN has acknowledged the existence of hockey as an actual sport, something that has been a rare occurance on the network during the post-lockout era.

These aren’t that new — probably a month or two old — but I haven’t really seen them posted anywhere. They’re two of the newest Sportscenter commercials and feature two Atlantic Divsion mascots running wild at ESPN headquarters. I’m not sure if they broke in or were actually allowed in by security. ESPN has yet to return our phone calls that we, being the good bloggers we are, have not yet made since the phone company shut off the line in our parents’ basement.
