There will be a lot of firsts happening win LSU takes on Wisconsin from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. As of Friday, you can now add ESPN’s College GameDay coming live from little ‘ol Green Bay as well.
ESPN personality and GameDay co-host, Kirk Herbstreit, confirmed the location of the season-opening GameDay on the Doug Gotlieb show, per the Wisconsin State Journal.
The history of such a place like Lambeau likely trumped perhaps the more intriguing matchup in Week 1, as Alabama takes on USC in Dallas, Texas on the same day.
It also shouldn’t be surprising, as Badgers AD Barry Alvarez let the cat out of the bag at the Wisconsin Sports Awards banquet back in April. He let the crowd in attendance know that he believed the show would be in Green Bay for that matchup, however Herbstreit’s confirmation was the first time anyone associated with the show made it official.
Wisconsin and LSU will kick off at 2:30pm CT on Sept. 3, marking the first FBS football game to ever be played at Lambeau Field and just the second ever college football game at the historic stadium.
