The 2011 NBA Draft is next week and the San Antonio Spurs will be selecting at 29 in the first round.
Spurs fans have seen many reports here at Project Spurs on which players are working out with the team. From Nikola Vucevic, to Chandler Parsons, seems the Spurs are working overtime to see which player will be wearing the black and silver next season. If there is a next season.
ESPN’s Chard Ford chimed in recently on who the Spurs will select and according to him, he sees Davis Bertans going to San Antonio:
Looks like both Nikola Mirotic & Davis Bertans staying in the draft. Both will be 1st rounders. Look for Mirotic at OKC & Bertans to Spurs.
OK Ford. We will bite. Who is Bertans?
Bertrans is a 6’10”, 210 lbs., big man out of Latvia. He participated at the 2011 Adidas Eurocamp and here is the scouting report on him from the Eurocamp:
He looked very agile running the court for a 6-10 player and showed a very smooth jumper. He also dunked with ease, his wrist appearing well above the rim when he flushed the ball.
All-in-all, Bertans left talent evaluators giddy for the evening All-star game as word was spreading he would play.
Alas, he did play and he looked rather pedestrian in the five-on-five setting. He finished with 7 points on a paltry 3/13 shooting display that included a missed dunk and having gotten blocked twice. He also had a couple unsightly turnovers. (draftexpress.com)
