Yesterday was by far one of the, if not the, craziest days on the blog between the Winter Classic announcement; the Staal, Sauer and Avery injuries; an exhibition game; and the post game homophobic slur by the Flyers Wayne Simmonds towards Avery.
So here’s a couple of things you might have missed if you blinked…
– After last night’s game the Rangers assigned forwards Andre Deveaux and Andreas Thuresson to the CT Whale giving them 33 players remaining on their active roster for their trip to Europre. For roster click here.
– Michael Sauer is out for a week with a right shoulder sprain, while Sean Avery’s foot is not broke just a bloody toenail. Both made the trip to Europe
– Here’s Sauer on the injury…
“Nothing’s broken. That’s the good thing right now. it’ll be a day to day thing.
“It’s frustrating no matter what when you come out of a game. Especially before this trip (to Europe). The good news is that the X-rays came back negative, it’s not broken.”
– The NHL is “looking into” Wayne Simmonds calling Sean Avery homophobic slur last night.
– Finally, MSG.com has this nice piece on the Winter Classic announcement…
