Evan Cutts makes long-awaited return to fighting

It has been over two years since North Texas’ Evan “The Butcher” Cutts entered the cage for a professional prizefight. At 5-1, Cutts was always considered a unique talent who blended unflinching heart with a wrestling-based submission game. However, after suffering a debilitating injury while filming Bellator’s reality fight series Fight Master, Cutts has been laying low while becoming one of the area’s most respected coaches at Fitness Fight Factory.

Now a brown belt under Brandon Quick, Cutts is ready to return to MMA action and this weekend he will get the chance at RXMMA in Harker Heights, TX.

Standing in the way of Cutts’ triumphant return to fistic prominence is for The Ultimate Fighter winner Colton Smith. Smith is a fighter who embodies the word tenacious and Cutts is readily aware the challenges that brings.

“I am excited to fight Colton Smith,” explains Cutts. “I really want to test my self against someone who has won a season of The Ultimate Fighter. I know he’s a good wrestler and I know he’s doing his best to evolve himself beyond that, but I still feel like if we hit the ground I am going to submit him.”

Cutts continues, “Colton has a solid chin, and good cardio, but I think that my willpower will help me dominate. I’m not looking past Colton, but he stands in my way if I want to continue to build my career as a mixed martial artist.”
