As Day #1 at the meetings comes to a close, several players are making their arbitration decisions known. As expected Jason Bay has declined arbitration. The Angels are showing a great deal of interest in Bay right now but don’t count the Red Sox out; they will likely match the Angel’s offer.
Mark DeRosa has also turned down arbitration. He has been on the Red Sox and the Yankees radar.
The Red Sox signed minor league free agent pitcher Fabio Castro and re-signed Kason Gabbard to a minor league deal.
Red Sox prospect Casey Kelly has chosen to become a pitcher over becoming a shortstop for the Red Sox.
Braves reliever and potential target for the Red Sox, Rafael Soriano looks like he will accept arbitration and try for a trade.
