File this one under "what a difference a year makes."
The better part of my adult life has been spent wondering why free agents don't want to come to Boston… and regular readers know that's a long time. But all of a sudden, everyone wants to wear green. Danny Ainge is getting calls from all over the place… yesterday we found out that Gary Payton is sick of playing bingo and canasta at the home and wants to come back to Boston… and now Travis Best has come out of the woodwork.
"I'd be happy to contribute to that situation in any way," Best said. "I'd like to help the team win. I'd make the situation better. I've been to the [NBA] Finals. I know what it takes. I know how to contribute in a veteran way."
The good thing is, Boston is obviously the first choice for free agents now. We're like that actress that did infomercials and made-for-TV movies…. but now we've gotten our big break. Now everyone wants us in their movies and on their magazines… and we can pick and choose our roles. Then… we can release a sex tape, get hooked on coke and booze, and spiral out of control in a misguided attempt to win Daddy's approval. Why didn't you love me Daddy…. why?
What was I saying again?
