“THE LOTTERY MAFIA”

THE LOTTERY MAFIA

Have you ever gotten bored hearing about the Miami Heat and the “Big Three”? Have you ever tuned into NBA TV and all they talk about are the LA Lakers for the 100th time?  If you’re bored of hearing the same old stories about the same old big market playoff teams, then The Lottery Mafia is the place for you!

The Lottery Mafia is a website dedicated to the teams that are destined to end up in the NBA Lottery.  If you are reading this, I am sorry but the lottery really isn’t that bad.  I’m a Charlotte Bobcats fan so I know all about it! I hope for your sake that your team is not in the lottery for long (there is a way out which the LA Clippers have proven).  If your team is in the playoffs, then enjoy it while you can.  I hope your team stays out of the lottery and never appears on this site… unless your team is the Miami Heat.

Here at The Lottery Mafia, we like terms such as potential, young, tanking, expiring contracts, draft picks, cap space, and losing… you pretty much get the picture.  I am sick of scrolling to the bottom of the Power rankings and seeing the bottom 5 teams where the writer hasn’t even bothered to say anything besides “yeah… not much to say… they’re still really bad”.  Then one day I thought, “Why not make a website focused on those teams that are ‘really bad’ and provide information and analysis of their rebuilding?”

This website will provide vital information for lottery bound teams. There will be weekly columns on the following:

  • The “Powerless Rankings” – This will rank a team’s performance weekly; the worse you are, the higher up the ladder you go!
  • Lottery Rookie Watch – This will be a rookie ladder dedicated to those teams in the lottery. This will not leave the 2nd round picks to be ignored!
  • Future Lottery All-Stars – We know how important it is for a rebuilding team to get an All-Star.  This will rank which players are the closest to making that jump to All-Star status.
  • Contract Ladder – This will rank the top 5 worst contracts for rebuilding teams (expiring contracts will be weighted as they are actually useful to some extent).
  • Potential Pros – This will have a ladder of the top 5 best performers of the week in college basketball, and no, it won’t just be the 2013-14 Kentucky Team!

I hope these weekly ladders will keep you coming back to check the site regularly, and if you ever have any queries about any of the blogs, please email me and I PROMISE to respond.
