Oregon’s BCS game is Bruins Coming Saturday
Alabama allowed 42 points by Texas A&M. In their other six games, they’ve allowed a total of 26, including shutouts of SEC foes Ole Miss (which beat LSU) and Arkansas. Their other opponents, however, include Colorado State, Georgia State, and 1-5 Kentucky.
The defensive stats are aided somewhat by the fact that The Tide plays a pro style offense with a deliberate pace. Against the Razorbacks Nick Saban’s three-time BCS Champions had drives that took 6:09, 5:51 and 7:11 off the clock. The Razorbacks ran 64 plays; Washington State reeled off 101. The Alabama defense held Arkansas to 6-15 on 3rd down and forced three turnovers.
Saban’s crew isn’t just playing their starters to rack up the dominating numbers: including special teams, 30 different players recorded a defensive stat last Saturday.
