Wade Davis, Colorado Rockies

Despite compiling the second-most saves in baseball during his first tour with the Rockies, it wasn’t an ideal year for Wade Davis. Following four straight years of posting a 2.30 ERA or better without a strand rate worse than 82.7%, those numbers came in at 4.13 and 66.9%, respectively, in 2018.

Looking at relief pitcher statistics can be tricky due to the sample size — one bad month can torpedo a season more than any other player. For Davis, it was a three-month stretch in the middle of his year that derailed what could’ve been a typically dominant campaign.

The 33-year-old also struggled with adjusting to Coors Field — he posted a 4.73 ERA at home, while that number dropped to 3.55 on the road.

Unlike the other relievers on this list, Davis has already landed his big contract after signing a three-year, $52 million deal last offseason. Instead of getting back on track and proving himself to earn another payday, he’ll be focused on showing he’s worth the investment that’s already been made.
