Green Bay at Seattle
Start: Marshawn Lynch, RB, SEA
The front line of the Green Bay defense has been hit hard by the injury bug. B.J. Raji will miss the entire season, and his replacement at nose tackle in Letroy Guion is doubtful as well. Lynch should easily break 100 yards this week.
Bench: Zach Miller, TE, SEA
Plenty of good tight end options this week. This is not one of them. While the Green Bay front line is beat up, the linebackers are as quick as ever, and Russell Wilson will find his tight end pinned down all day long. Combined with a likely Seahawk gameplan of running the ball down Green Bay’s throat, Miller’s touches will be limited.
Buffalo at Chicago
Start: Sammy Watkins, WR, BUF
Watkins will likely be paired with Charles Tillman on the Bears defense, and Watkins has the speed to turn this into a mismatch. Combined with the Chicago safeties still figuring things out, and Watkins has the makings of a big day.
Sit: Buffalo Defense
On the other side, what Brandon Marshall will do to Leodis McKelvin is borderline illegal. Jay Cutler will not have to be accurate to let Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey do their thing against Buffalo’s undersized cornerbacks.
New Orleans at Atlanta
Start: Pierre Thomas, RB, NO
While Drew Brees flinging the ball through the sky is the hallmark of the Saints offense, the Falcons run defense was the second worst in the league last season, and looks to have improved very little. Both Thomas and Mark Ingram will have a big day.
Sit: Roddy White, WR, ATL
While Julio Jones will have fun testing out Patrick Robinson in the New Orleans secondary, White is paired with Keenan Lewis with Kenny Vaccaro watching closely. Matt Ryan will take the path of least resistance this week, leaving White with fewer points than his owners would like.
Tennessee at Kansas City
Start: Jamaal Charles, RB, KC
Not that you need me to tell you to keep Charles in your starting lineup, but this week he gets to feast on a battered Titans defense. If your opponent has Charles this week, you have my condolences.
Sit: Justin Hunter, WR, TEN
While Hunter ignited the preseason, and gave Titans fans a jolt of excitement, he is still the third or fourth option on an offense that find itself on the sideline a great deal if the grinding Kansas City offense has its way. Even if you are strapped for options at wide receiver, there are better ones like DeAndre Hopkins.
