As speculated, the Union trade away defender and captain Danny Califf to Chivas USA. Danny has been seeing inconsistent minutes only playing in four of the 10 matches for the Union this season. In return the Union are getting a player to be named later and something else. That something else could be a draft pick, an international spot, an allocation spot or allocation money.

It has been confirmed that the Union have obtained midfielder Michale Lahoud. Lahoud is a versatile attacking middy, who has the ability to net a few goals. The former first round pick has been injury prone and to be honest does not do anything that any union midfielder cannot do. It is hard to see Lahoud getting minutes given the talent of the Union midfield.

Califf, who is 32 years, was the first person to dawn the captains arm band for the Union. As captain, he embodied the heart and soul of the team. He gave the team grit and toughness and a never say die attitude. He was the leader of the team. Captain ink was exactly what every young team needs, a tough, hard-nosed experienced defender. His blue collar work ethic and hard-hitting mentality made him fit in with any other Philadelphia athlete.
