Faulkner Leaves Badgers, Joins Canada & Doeren at NC State

The mass exit of assistant coaches continues to hit the Badgers program as the latest name to join the list is tight ends coach Eddie Faulkner who joins the staff of Dave Doeren at NC State. Faulkner, Matt Canada, and Doeren all coached together during Doeren's first year at Norther Illinois and they'll be back together again with this announcement. Faulkner will coach tight ends, fullbacks, and special teams for the Wolfpack.

With Faulkner's departure, along with Andy Buh's move to Cal as defensive coordinator, the Badgers have just three assistant coaches that could be holdovers for the new coach. Those are offensive line coach Bart Miller, secondary coach Ben Strickland, and running backs coach Thomas Hammock.

The fact that Hammock hasn't left yet is hugely important if this this hire drags out past the end of the new recruiting dead period as he's the lone holdover that's got huge chops in the recruiting world.

Again, we're on coach watch 2012 this week, but remind you that a new head coach can not be announced until after the closing of the open position on the evening of the 19th, so we could be a few days away from an announcement or a few more weeks depending on whom is on the list as of right now.
