To bolster its financial capacities (and perhaps heal its ailing squad) Doug Quinn and FC Dallas have signed a fortuitous shirt deal with Frisco-based AdvoCare. For those who have no clue who AdvoCare is, it is a wellness and health company that hawks goods related to weight loss, muscle gain, etc. It’s a company partnered already with NASCAR (No. 3 Car in the Nationwide series), has its own bowl (the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl), and its own NASCAR race (the AdvoCare 500).
FCD promised a shirt sponsorship for a little over a year now. FC Dallas’ own Doug Quinn put the reasoning behind this deal (and delay in a shirt deal for the club) best:
“For the past year and a half we have spent countless hours identifying, meeting with and presenting the hero partner that will adorn the chest of over 200 teams that make up the FC Dallas club. Our ultimate intent was to secure the perfect partners and we’re delighted to have found that in AdvoCare. Today our journey together begins as we are thrilled to call this group of wonderful people family.”
It’s great to see this come to fruition, especially with a well-established company based out of North Texas. The deal makes complete sense, and much credit should be due to Doug Quinn and the FCD front office for forging this partnership.
The question remains: does the AdvoCare logo go on FCD’s shirts for July 4th? One would think so; there is definitely enough time to arrange enough printing and design between now and next Wednesday. New shirts with the new logo may not be in the shops but it’s feasible the logos will be fitted for the kits on the field. I personally think it looks brilliant on the home kit – not so sure how a blue logo on a blue shirt will look on the away kit, but I suppose that will be in the works.
Who knows – this could be a brilliant marketing ploy. AdvoCare has its shirt deal done this week. George John, David Ferreira, Ricardo Villar, and Blas Perez: all could return against Toronto on Wednesday. The reason for these miraculous returns: ADVOCARE. Hopefully the company’s PR department is all over this. How did David Ferreira finally turn the corner on his ankle injury? AdvoCare Joint ProMotion, of course. George John overcame his concussion symptoms with AdvoCare Nighttime Recovery. There’s no ceiling on this thing! The bit of irony is that the most injury-riddled team in MLS signed a deal with a health and wellness company.
It is a great deal, though. To be redundant: Quinn and company should receive great praise for making this deal happen. Some good luck and good friends are what this club need right now.
What do you think about the shirt deal? Any objections? Is anyone going to miss “FC Dallas” slapped across the chest?
