FCS All-American QB Adams Transfers to Oregon

By Scott Anderson

Replacing Marcus Mariota just got a lot easier for the Oregon Ducks in 2015. Eastern Washington quarterback  Vernon Adams announced today that he will be joining the Ducks, by way of the graduate transfer rule, after three fantastic seasons for the Eagles. Adams will not join the team until he receives his degree in the spring, but will be the favorite in a six horse race to be the starting quarterback for the Ducks.

The 6’0 190 pound Adams threw for 10,348 yards, 110 touchdowns and 31 interceptions while completing 64.8% of his passes. Adams was also the runner up for the Walter Payton award, given to the best offensive player in the FCS, the past two seasons along with being named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year.

Adams also has experience facing Pac-12 opposition, as his Eastern Washington teams faced off against Washington in 2014, and Oregon State in 2013. In the 59-52 loss to Washington, Adams completed 31 of 46 passes for 475 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions. Against the Beavers, he threw for 411 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 107 yards and two more scores.

UCLA and Texas also expressed interest in acquiring the services of Adams.

Oregon opens their season up against, believe it or not, Eastern Washington on September 5th.
