Day 2 notes via Tampa Bay Times beat writer Joe Smith:

Defenseman  Johnathan MacLeod said he’s staying with his commitment to Boston University, turning down opportunity with Moncton (CHL).

Goalie coach Frantz Jean says he liked the signing of Nabokov, a proven veteran who will push Bishop and mentor young goalies.

Adam Erne says he has a partially torn ligament in his left wrist that will likely require surgery. Just skating during camp. The Bolts are having Erne’s left wrist evaluated in Cleveland next week to see if there’s a tear. Surgery a possibility.

Goalie coach Frantz Jean says Vasilevskiy is more advanced than most his age (19) but they’re patient. “The sky is the limit.”

First round pick Anthony DeAngelo says Steven Stamkos texted him after he was drafted. Both played for Sarnia.

Coach Jon Cooper praised Yzerman for doing an “unbelievable” job this offseason, but tempers expectations as they’re young up front. Cooper said, “I’ve never seen a team, on paper, win the Stanley Cup.” He also said Ryan Callahan choosing to stay was big: “A huge sign that Tampa might be a place for guys to come and play.”
