Welcome to Fighter Diaries, another feature of Undercard Superstar. We’ll be talking with fighters of all shapes and sizes and of different combat sports to get inside their heads and find out what it’s like to be in their shoes. This week, Andy Anderson shares his tales as he prepares for his first no-gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament.
You can read Part I of Andy’s journal here.
Well today I bought all of my whole unprocessed foods for the week, plus a scale. I will be competing at 154.9 and under and my weight is already at 153 so I should be good. The next weight class down is 139.9 so I don’t really have time for a cut although when I end up fighting professionally it should be at 135.
I am a bit upset because with the snow storm that hit tonight it made it impossible for me and my training partner I drive to Pittsburgh with to get up to RGA Pitt to train. (I drive into Pittsburgh from Steubenville, Ohio so it is about 45 minutes to an hour one way) So two training days (Thursday and Friday) before the tournament for me.
Stay tuned as Andy keeps checking in with us on his first of hopefully many successes in the BJJ and MMA world! Andy can be reached @AndyAndersonBJJ
