The only thing stopping the Reading Phillies from beating Binghamton was the weather. The double A squad made quick work of the BMets behind strong pitching performances from Eflin, Thompson, and Lively who completed the sweep. Reading won 9-4 in game 1 behind a strong offensive showing, game 2 was all about Jake Thompson who threw a complete game 3 hit shutout, and in game 3 JP Crawford and Nick Williams went deep to lead Reading to a 4-2 victory.
In the championship series, they will face the Bowie Baysox who won the western division. Bowie possess a talented bunch and will be a tough task for Reading. Games 1 and 2 will be in Reading while 3 and 4 and 5 if necessary will be in Bowie. Eflin, Thompson, and Lively are all in line to pitch the first 3 games. The Fightins’ powerful offense will be needed against a tough rotation lead by Terry Doyle who is 12-1 with a 1.97 ERA in the regular season. Your future Phillies are in a championship already, that should get you excited.
