Figueroa two much for Brewers

There was two much going on in Shea Friday night–former Brewer Nelson Figueroa’s line told the story: 2 hits (both two baggers) and 2 walks led to 2 earned runs…unfortunately, this was over 6 innings, as the Mets beat the Brewers Friday night, 4-2, to hand the Brewers their third straight loss.
The Mets scored first in the bottom of the fourth off of Brewers’ starter Manny Parra (1-1, 4.82); after third baseman David Wright led off the inning with a single to center, Parra walked Carlos Beltran after getting ahead of Beltran with a 1-2 count; Carlos Delgado then hit a 1-1 changeup off of Prince Fielder’s glove that plated Wright. Infielder Damon Easley then hit a sac fly to plate Beltran. After a Jason Kendall passed ball put Delgado at second, back-to-back singles by Ryan Church and Raul Casanova plated Delgado to give the Metropolitans a 3-0 lead. Parra finished the 4th, but was yanked in favor of David Riske in the 5th.
The Brew Crew countered with a run in the 5th after Corey Hart walked with two outs; then scored on J.J. Hardy’s double. The Brewers cut the lead to 3-2 with a run in the 6th–Rickie Weeks drew a walk, then stole second, and scored on Prince Fielder’s double. The Mets manufactured an insurance run in their half of the 7th off of Salomon Torres, while the Mets’ pen kept the Brewers off the board the rest of the way.
The Brewers face Johan Santana tomorrow–the Brewers have had success against Santana; Santana is 0-1, 6.00, versus the Brewers in his two starts over the last three years as a member of the Twins. Santana, however, also fanned 18 Brewers over 12 innings pitched, meaning he hits the strike zone often.
