FINAL RECAP & HIGHLIGHTS: Curry Scores 33, Klay Nets 25 In The Second Half As Warriors (64-7) Defeat Los Angeles Clippers, 114-98

ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — This is a continuation of the halftime recap of the Los Angeles Clippers at the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors took a 51-49 lead into halftime.

3rd Quarter – Curry With The Repertoire

Stephen Curry once again sparked the Warriors to start the half as opened the third quarter with a reverse layup, then after DeAndre Jordan split a pair of free throws, Klay Thompson hit a catch-and-shoot trey from the right side, assisted by Curry.

Then Harrison Barnes found himself in the low right block against the smaller J.J. Redick, took him inside with a sweeping runner, missed, but Draymond Green snared the offensive board with his right arm, and found Klay ready to reload from the top.

Thompson drilled the triple, Chris Paul then got stuck with a terminated dribble in the paint, found Jordan at the free throw line, but Jordan airballed the awkward set shot, and Draymond led the break.

Green instructed Klay to cut, he did, Draymond hit him, and Thompson left a lead bounce pass for Andrew Bogut to finish point-blank with a dunk.

Clippers head coach Doc Rivers called a timeout as Golden State stretched their lead to 61-50 with 9:57 remaining.

Both teams had empty possessions out of the timeout, then Curry made a bad pass trying to laser the ball inside that Jeff Green stole and went the length of the court for an “and-one” as Klay made a decent defensive effort, putting both hands on the ball as Green stumbled.

Jeff Green’s free throw cut the Warriors’ lead to 61-53 with 8:13 to play.

But Redick accidentally bit on a short swing pass to Steph on the left wing and Curry pulled up for a triple…

…Redick lost the ball to Steph on the next play, and Curry delivered a lefty one-handed line drive to Draymond for a crowd-pleasing dunk, as Bogut squeezed Curry’s head in celebration:

Barnes missed a couple jumpers, but Bogut sent the second back home with a lefty jam, with Curry shaking Paul in the process…

…Paul tried to answer with a three but missed, and Klay hit a triple over Paul on a dish from the post…

…and Rivers had to take another timeout as the Warriors took a 71-57 lead with 6:18 to go.

Out of the timeout, Curry made this beautiful finger roll…

…but the Clippers went on a mini-run of 5-0 before Jeff Green missed a jumper, Draymond pulled the rebound, and went coast-to-coast for a lefty “and-one” layup:

Later, after Shaun Livingston got fouled, Paul picked up a technical, but came back with a nice lob to Jordan for another rim-rocker:

Steph missed a stepback isolated against Jordan, but Paul missed an iso against Brandon Rush and, with 4.1 seconds left, Curry used a series of crossovers to get past Jordan again and draw two foul shouts after getting hit at the rim.

However, Curry split the pair, Paul took the inbound, shed Steph, and got a three-point runner to drop at the buzzer.

The Warriors held an 81-72 lead after three quarters as Curry’s point total reached 23 on 9-for-18 shooting. Jordan countered with 17 points, 18 rebounds.

4th Quarter – Klay Heats Up

Klay started the fourth with two consecutive triples:

That prompted Doc Rivers to sub his starters plus Crawford back in with about nine minutes to go and Kerr called a timeout to bring Curry back in.

Thompson missed a reload three after an offensive rebound from Marreese Speights, then Klay got rejected by Jordan in heavy traffic, although Thompson wanted the foul, and finally Klay got whistled for a reach in as Austin Rivers attacked and earned two trips to the line.

Rivers canned both and the Warriors lead was cut to 90-83 with 7:20 to play.

Thompson answered, though, as he made a backdoor cut, got the feed from Draymond, and the foul on Redick:

Klay’s “and-one” put Golden State back up, 92-83, with 7:11 left.

Steph made a beautiful steal of an otherwise wicked crossover by Paul at the top, but airballed the ensuing fastbreak runner, however, Paul missed a jumper and this time Curry converted with a touchdown pass to Klay:

Doc took another timeout as Golden State went back up, 95-83, with 6:34 remaining.

After the timeout, Crawford made a tough runner, but Jordan got caught on an island against Klay way outside the arc, Thompson pivoted, went past Jordan and had a clear path to the bucket for a layup.

Redick came back with a lefty layup, but Steph got doubled beyond the left arc, made a perfectly angled bounce pass to Draymond in the middle and Green went hard past and over Paul for the scoop, plus the harm.

With 5:22 to go, Doc took another timeout as Draymond still had a free throw to attempt on top of a 99-87 lead.

After Draymond made the free throw, Rush missed a three, Crawford missed a jumper and then Green was called for an offensive foul – an illegal screen set for Curry.

Paul missed a shot, Curry connected on two free throws, Rivers made a shot but then Steph Curry made a top of the key three to give the Warriors a 16 point lead with 3:27 to go.

He was then called for a foul and in frustration he threw his mouthguard towards the scorers table which resulted in a technical foul.

Paul made the technical free throw then he split the pair of free throws. Curry missed a shot, Livingston got the offensive rebound and then he also split a pair of free throws. Paul and Jordan checked out with 2:53 remaining with Rivers conceding the defeat. Crawford then missed a shot and was then assessed a technical foul after arguing the call, claiming that he was fouled by Steph.

Prigioni hit a three, Klay and Green missed shots then Curry got a lay-up to go to give him 31 points on the night. Steph then hit another shot and then Klay hit a three with 18 seconds remaining to give him 32 points for the evening.

Curry was then on the receiving end of the post match interview shower!
