Finish the minisweep

This morning, I checked the ESPN app on my phone to see if the Pirates were playing early and this is how ESPN blurbed this afternoon’s game: “The Reds look to end their home woes against the lowly Pirates.”

Well, screw that. James McDonald takes the hill today with a chance to bury the memories six-game losing streak and send the Pirates back home on a good note after this road trip started in such ugly fashion. I am a bit worried about the matchup with the Reds as McDonald has had home run problems this year and the Reds have lefties like Jay Bruce and Joey Votto in the lineup. At least McDonald’s platoon splits haven’t been bad this year (actually, he has a reverse split) and he’s been pitching much better than he was earlier in the year.

He goes against the Pirate-killer (then again, what half-decent pitcher in the NL isn’t a Pirate-killer?) Johnny Cueto, who the Pirates haven’t seen yet this year, at 12:35 this afternoon.
