Fire Brand turns five

It’s not often that a baseball blog turns five years old, but we did it. Back on December 31, 2003, I was still stinging from the Aaron Bleeping Boone Game and I had to vent somewhere. Five years later, look where we are. We’ve come a long way.

I just want to take a moment to thank all current and former Fire Brand writers: Ryne Crabb, Tito Crafts, Tim Daloisio, Mike Edelman, Zach Hayes, Shawn Medeiros, Mike Scandura and Brandon Stewart.

Of course, the readers (you!) and commenters (some of you) are the sole reason why we’re still blogging up a steam today. You are what makes this enjoyable. There are days where I’m frustrated to no end because I have no idea what to write about, but I dedicate myself to coming up with something because I know how much you enjoy reading this site and I hate to disappoint.

It’s cathartic for me as well to be able to put down my thoughts and challenge myself to come up with topics or to make an article better than it is. And reading the feedback on my articles is a great pleasure whether the feedback is positive or negative because I strive to give the readers something they enjoy, look forward to and discuss. If I can do that on a daily (yearly) basis, well, I think I can do most anything.

Fire Brand would not exist if it wasn’t for the people reading this, so I’d like to take a bit of time and say: Thank you. Thank you for visiting. Thank you for giving me the privilege of being read and discussed.

Have a Happy New Year, everyone, and here’s to the sixth year of Fire Brand!
