Steve Zipay at Blue Notes say the first round of cuts is expected at 1 p.m. today.
Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants says on defense Stu Bickel, Sam Klassen, Tomas Kundratek, Dylan McIlrath, Jyri Niemi and Sam Noreau are expected to be among the group either assigned to the AHL or sent back to their junior teams.
No word on possible forwards but you have to assume Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Andre Deveaux, Tommy Grant, Jordan Hickmott, Taylor Jordan, Kale Kerbashian, Chad Kolarik, Shane McColgan, Randy McNaught, Michael St. Croix, Kelsey Tessier, Christian Thomas, Andreas Thuresson, Jason Wilson and Andrew Yogan are all on the chopping block.
Jason Missiean and Chad Johnson will probably be the goaltenders headed back to the Whale.
…as much as I enjoy watching a lot of the Rangers prospects, it will be nice to start trimming the roster down to players who are going to help this team.
…hoping McIlrath gets a little longer. I thought he looked real strong towards the end of the game on Wednesday. Maybe the Staal injury will help him get on that plane to Europe.
