If you’re not just a tad nervous about tonight’s Game 7 against the Flyers then you need to check if you still have a pulse. There’s plenty of reason to be nervous about, say the Bruins inability to close the door on the Filth the last three straight games, the Bruins offense vanishing as fast as Krejci’s wrist popped out of it’s socket, etc. But there’s little time to dwell on the negative when it’s Game 7. I tend to scoff at New Age BS but there needs to be nothing but positive energy flowing in the Garden tonight — from Rancourt to the final buzzer.
Here are five reasons why the Bruins will win tonight: #5 – The Garden. There’s been a lot of talk of how the Garden’s going to be vibrating tonight. We have no doubt it will be. Hell, we’ll be there doing out best to make sure we have no voices for Saturday morning. Not much more to say about this. The fans are an extra 19,600 players on the ice. Make it deafening. Harass Leighton. Make the walls shake. It’s time for the Gallery Gods to return in full force tonight.
#4 – Fourth one’s always the hardest. History means nothing and stats mean nothing when it comes to Game 7s, so we’re not going to start spouting off that useless info. Stats and history don’t dictate who wins and who loses. If it did, the Habs wouldn’t be going to the Eastern Conference Finals. Even so, that fourth win’s always a bitch. This will be the Bruins fourth time for number four; it’ll be the Flyers first shot. People aren’t giving the Bs much credit at the moment and the team seems to thrive on that. Winning four in a row against someone after round one isn’t easy — just ask the Bs. They’ll be focused and determined tonight. Plus, we hear Chara sucks at golf. More reason for the Bs to win.
#3 Bruins/Habs Conf. Final. Seriously. Who wants to see a Habs-Filth final. No one except for Flyer fans. A classic showdown with two up-coming (and somewhat surprising) goaltenders is a lot more interesting than Goons vs. Cinderella. The Hockey Gods realize this.
He was smiling… That’s right. You know, that, that Tuukka smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn’t know it ‘fore, they could tell right then that they weren’t a-gonna beat him. That old Tuukka smile. Oh, Tuuk. He was some boy. Cool Hand Tuuk. Hell, he’s a natural-born world-shaker.
#2 – Tuukka Rask. Some pinkhats are calling for Thomas to start tonight. We’re wondering what they’re smoking. It’s hard to pin the three losses on Rask when the defense has crumbled in front of him. Yes, 2Us-2Ks-2Points hasn’t been as spectacular as we’d like and that’s why he’s reason number two. As Joe Haggerty said, Tuukka is due to steal a game.
#1 – “The Mullet” says the Flyers will win. Fans of Black N’ Gold rejoice! Barry Melrose has predicted that the Flyers will win Game 7. This is the same guy who said Steve Stamkos isn’t ready for the NHL. The same Stamkos who ended the season with 95 points. As one of writers Jon said, “If we start putting money on the team Barry says will lose. We’ll be millionaires!” Time to believe. Time to go. Go Bruins.
