Five storylines for Chiefs game

Oehser sets it up

5.Joseph Addai, Joseph Addai, Joseph Addai. Loyal readers of Indy Football Report – he knows who he is – know we at IFR see Joseph Addai as particularly valuable. But the more you watch this season, the more a case can be made for Addai as the second-most valuable player on the Colts’ offense behind Manning. That sounds counterintuitive at first, because the Colts are a pass-oriented offense, but while Reggie Wayne is valuable, if he is out of the game, there are still Dallas Clark, Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon in the passing offense. If Clark is out, there is still Wayne. While there was a buzz of excitement about second-year running back Donald Brown when he was drafted, and while he has played well in spots – Brown is a dynamic big-play runner – Addai’s consistency would be hard to replace. He may be the NFL’s best pass-blocking running back, and he has shown this year he is vastly underrated as a runner. Teammates know Addai’s value to the offense, and Manning certainly knows it when Addai picks up blitz after blitz. Here’s hoping others recognize it, too.
